Summer Staff

Each summer, over 250 volunteers make up the majority of Beacon's session staff: cooks, cabin leaders, and program staff. These volunteers come and go each week as they serve at various camp sessions. By comparison, our "summer staff" stay for the entire summer, serving as the maintenance team and lifeguards, so that our session volunteers are able to focus on the most important job at camp: teaching and demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ to campers who join us each week. 

Most of these summer staff give up 10 or more weeks of their summers. Frequently, this team is compromised of students who are returning to university studies in the fall. While these students come to Beacon with the knowledge that they are not guaranteed an income, Friends of Beacon provides an honorarium to them to thank them for their service. By supporting the Summer Staff Fund, you allow us to find excellent, experienced staff who are able to commit to Beacon's rigorous schedule.
